The mountains of Chamonix must be amongst the most spectacular and impressive
in the world. Dominated by Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Western Europe
at 4810 metres above sea level and disected by the glaciers that tumble from it,
the most famous being La Mer De Glace.
The riding areas offered by this rugged and majestic terrain are exceptional.
From the legendary Aiguille Du Midi to the mellow slopes of Le Tour you are bound
to find something that suits your ability. High Mountain and Backcountry skiing
is a Chamonix speciality.
Paragliding, mountain biking, mountain boarding and rafting are but a few of the Summer
sports on offer here. This Summer (2003) has seen exceptional weather with only 6 or 7
days of rain so the ChamJedi crew have been taking it all on almost every day!!
For a days JIBBING on your snowboard try La Flégère on the sunny
side of the Valley and search out the many hits and kickers that can be found
virtually anywhere, on and off piste!
Feeling a bit braver you can cross over to the shaded side of the Valley to Les
Grands Montets which offers some very steep off piste gems and some world reknowned
pistes such as La Herse and Le Bochard. Les
Grands Montets Top Station is a dizzying 3300 metres above sea level. Walk down the stairs to find
yourself surrounded by High Mountain terrain with famous runs such as Le Grand Mur
and Le Pas De Chevre waiting to be shredded.
CHAMJEDI believe that Chamonix is a "FreeSport Paradise"!!
